The software is free forever and always will be. Hardware made for it — starting with the dew heater ring — is sold at a small margin to cover fab runs and shipping. Buying it is never required: everything on the parts list is off-the-shelf, and the heater works with a hand-wound resistor ring too.

A purpose-made 12V heater ring for the dome, switched by Skylapse itself from a BME280 dewpoint reading (or by hand from the Heater tab). Estimated ~$20. Details when it is real and in hand — see the Dew heater page for how the software side works and how to wire your own heater today.

To hear when it is available, watch releases on GitHub (Watch → Custom → Releases).

Etsy is where most people already have an account; Tindie is the maker-hardware marketplace where Raspberry Pi people actually look for boards like this. Same product, same price, whichever you prefer.
